Art Cleaning Cart with Art Cleaning Tools is a larger than life, painted wood sculpture. Inspired by the artist’s experience working on the gallery maintenance team at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, it is based the utility cart used to maintain the artwork in the museum. Art Cleaning Cart is loaded with sculptures of cleaning tools fashioned from hand built porcelain and stoneware, as well as maps of the galleries and sketches of art in the museum. Installed among the paintings of The Collection, it is a vehicle to identify with the viewpoint of the artist. Read the Brochure for The Collection with an essay by Lynn Smith designed by Mark Havens, both of whom are former gallery maintenance team members.
