Apples and Oranges

2012 - 2014

Apples and Oranges presents serious and playful connections among unlike things. The fruit and objects in the still life paintings are carefully placed for consideration and contemplation, sometimes seeming to hover in space. Loaded with symbolism, their relationships play out as if between actors on a stage. The taste of the fruit invokes early memories. The tools and other objects symbolically represent people in the artist’s family.
